Roy Moore is Tried
Roy Moore (notice, I no longer call him a Judge) was tried today in the Court of the Judiciary. He faced six counts of ethics violations regarding his refusal to obey a federal judges order to remove his infamous Ten Commandments monument. Moore seems to be so affixed to this monument of his that it has almost become an alter or so it seems. He is making such a big deal out of an engraved piece of granite rather than truly standing up and being the Christian he claims to be.
I claim to be a Christian however I do disagree with some of the large majorities opinions. And I state “opinions”. God did say “Judge not, lest ye be judged” yet still people like Moore, and Fred Phelps sit in judgement of others every day of their lives. I’m sorry, but I do not see Roy Moore as a truly Christian man. A truly Christian man would have made his statement, accepted that the law of the land did not permit it in the way it was made, and then removed the monument. It was a statement, I do not deny that. But he should have followed the letter of the law that he himself was sworn to uphold.
A decision on Moore’s fate should come as early as tomorrow morning. The Court of the Judiciary reconvenes at 11 am to render a decision. I, for one, will be looking for the results at 11:05.

Eh, I don’t care so much that he’s made such a stink about this for himself and his beliefs… what I care about is through all this, Alabama’s reasonably good name has been dragged down, and news reports imply that all of Alabama’s population feels the same as Roy Moore. Not quite, I say.
Posted by Dave on 11/13 at 12:16 PMApparently the author of this piece has never heard of civil disobediance. All good men (& women), whether Christian or otherwise, should participate when unlawful actions are taken by our judicial system. Judge Thompson’s ruling was unlawful because Judge Moore violated NO law. Hence, he had no jurisdiction in the matter & the decision of the ethics committee was without merit.
Posted by on 12/24 at 08:05 PMJudge Moore did most certainly violate the law of the Constitution of the United States as well as the Alabama State Constitution. Both documents clearly state that the State shall make no law establishing a religion or respecting a religion there of. By Roy Moore placing his concrete shrine of the Ten Commandments in the Rotunda of the Alabama Judicial Building, he is in essence forching the State of Alabama to recognize the Christian relgion over any other. Do you think Roy Moore would allow a 5000 pound monument to the Koran be placed beside his? What about a statue of Allah? The list could go on. And for you to argue that Roy Moore broke no laws… Let’s see you defiantly disobey a Federal Judges ruling and see how long you remain a free man before being arrested by Federal Agents. Roy Moore defied the law one time too many and quite frankly, should be disbarred for his actions.
Posted by The Poet on 12/26 at 01:51 AMNo, Judge Moore did not violate either Constitution. He did not “make a law” establishing or respecting a religion. He simply housed a tribute to an historical document in the Rotunda. He doesn’t require anyone to recognize Christianity (or Judaism) over any other religion, nor does he require anyone to worship his God. There is no law that obligates him to display another secular counterpart. And because he did not violate the US Constitution, Judge Thompson had no jurisdiction which makes his “Federal Court Order” UNLAWFUL.
